Why didn't we use C# wiki software?

A few people have criticized C# Online.NET for using PHP-based software instead of C#-based. First of all, these folks all have an axe to grind—C# wiki authors, .NET hosts, paid or ideological Microsoft cheerleaders.

Secondly, we are practical developers who choose the best, most efficient, and cheapest alternatives available. Most of us use C#, ASP, Java, JSP, Javascript, PHP—whatever the job calls for. "Use the right tool for the job" could be our motto.

Finally, our purpose was to create a C# resource for the .NET community. By far the best and cheapest way to do that was to use the tried-and-true MediaWiki software on an inexpensive PHP hosting service.
