This book is the sequel to the well-received Building Websites with Microsoft Content Management Server. Its purpose is to address advanced MCMS topics.
The authors have impeccable credentials. And, they have been very active in the MCMS community. In fact, if you were ever involved with MCMS 2002, you, probably, already know of the authors. They are all recognized experts in MCMS development.
This book begins with three chapters devoted to the creation of a sample application—an administration tool —using the Publishing API. This is followed by a treatise on search engine optimization. The next three chapters deal with configuration and integration of MCMS and SharePoint. The book goes on to discuss the pros and cons of staging static content and of implementing and validating dynamic content. And, there are chapters on integrating RSS feeds and on InfoPath integration—as an edit tool.
The book is loaded with real-world sample code which can easily be adapted to your particular needs. The well-chosen examples are one of the best things about the book; but, they are only snippets—not robust applications. All of the source code examples are in the C# language.
